Collection Description

Biographical Note

The Atlanta College of Pharmacy was founded in 1891, under the leadership of George Frederick Payne, as the first college of pharmacy in Georgia. It grew out of the pharmacy department of the Atlanta Medical College. Throughout its thirty-six years of operation, the basic curriculum of the school was a two-session program leading the Ph.G. degree.

Scope and Content Note

This record consists of materials documenting the functions of the Atlanta College of Pharmacy from 1891-1927. Included are legal documents, matriculation registers (1891-1927); grade books (1911-1920); a minute book containing faculty meeting minutes (1910-1925); a receipts journal (1914-1923) and a small collection of memorabilia.
