Collection Description
Scope and Content Note
This collection includes notes and correspondence in preparation for chapel worship preachers, speakers, and musicians. The bulk of the material comes from the period of Barbara Day Miller’s leadership (1997-2016), although there is materials that precede this. Some of the files contain material relevant to the Master of Sacred Music program, the Candler Singers, and liturgical events such Advent worship, as well as faculty committee records: Faculty Worship Committee, United Methodist General Conference Committee, and the Cannon Chapel Planning Committee. Within the Office of Worship collection are also materials related to Cannon Chapel: its groundbreaking, opposition, architecture, dedication, consecration, anniversary celebrations, and refurbishing. In addition, the Worship files contain printed bulletins, calendars, and promotional fliers spanning the years 1963-2016.
Arrangement Note
Materials are organized into alphabetical order, with the exception of the chapel services (organized by date). There is also a separate series for media.
