Collection Description

Biographical Note

The Journal of Pastoral Care Publications, Inc. was established to enhance the pastoral arts and sciences by publishing The Journal of Pastoral Care and Counseling and related materials and by providing communication services in the areas of pastoral care, counseling, and education. The organization is supported by the American Association of Pastoral Counselors, the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education, the Association of Professional Chaplains, the Canadian Association for Pastoral Practice and Education, the National Institute of Business and Industrial Chaplains, and the National Association of Jewish Chaplains.

The organization also publishes the Journal of Supervision and Training in Ministry. This journal was created by pastoral care workers and educators in 1978 in response to the need for publications by pastoral care and counseling clinicians and to develop a library on topics of supervision. The purpose of the journal is to preserve and extend the field of supervision and training in ministry formation through the written word, to preserve existing oral traditions of teaching in within the field, and to explore new approaches to training.
