Collection Description

Biographical Note

Located in Gay, Georgia, the origins of Gay United Methodist Church date back to 1914 when part of the congregation from Ebenezer Methodist Church and a group of Methodists from Oakland combined to form the congregation. Construction on the current church building was begun in 1945 and the buildinig was dedicated in 1950. Organ chimes were installed in 1951 and a parsonage was purchased in 1957. In 2014 the church was closed.

The Gay United Methodist Church records consist of two scrapbooks including photographs, newspaper clippings, and church bulletins from 1953-2013.
