Biographical Note
Lawrence L. Adams was an African American author from Providence, Rhode Island.
Scope and Content Note
The collection contains the papers of Lawrence L. Adams from approximately 1960. The papers include handwritten and typescript drafts of his original plays, dialect poems, and prose. Topics include religion, family and social relationships, and the African American community following emancipation. Several of the manuscripts are incomplete outlines. The collection also includes a photograph of Adams and three letters he wrote to the editors of various Providence, Rhode Island, publications.
