1856-1931
Boxes 26 - 29, OP 1-3
Scope and Content Note
This series contains printed material collected by Young John Allen from 1856-1931. The materials include clippings, and other collected material. The clippings, probably collected by Young John Allen's grandson George R. Loehr, Jr., include articles from newspapers and periodicals of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South. Articles are both by and about Young John Allen and missionary activity in China. Other clippings not concerning Allen are arranged by the periodical in which they appear. The collected materials in this series were primarily kept by Young John Allen and include printed pamphlets, programs, conference materials, and circulars, mostly related to missionary work during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Young John Allen, who served on several missionary boards, is mentioned in a number of these materials, particularly those related to missionary conferences he attended or organized. Most of the printed material in this series was published by the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, its mission board, or the Woman's Missionary Council. The collected materials also include articles related to China published in Methodist Episcopal Church, South and a few rare issues of The Little Worker and the Young Christian Worker.
Arrangement Note
