Collection Description

Biographical Note

Steven L. Anderson is an Atlanta, Georgia-based artist, who has been exhibited in Atlanta, Georgia; Chicago, Illinois; Los Angeles, California; New York City, New York; Miami, Florida; and San Francisco, California. Anderson was selected for the 2014-2015 Walthall Artist Fellowship, the Studio Artists Program at the Atlanta Contemporary Art Center, and an artist residency at the Hambidge Center for the Arts and Sciences (Rabun Gap, Georgia). As of 2016, his work examines “the nature of power and the power of Nature.” In addition to his art, Anderson and his wife, Liz, produced an independent art, music, film, and natural sciences magazine titled Cakewalk.

Scope and Content Note

The collection consists of 39 notebooks Anderson created from 1993-2015, using them to take notes, write down thoughts, sketch and collect items of interest. The notebooks contain sketches, poetry, writings, and ephemera from his time in Ann Arbor, Michigan; Chicago, Illinois; Prague, Czech Republic; Los Angeles, California; and Atlanta, Georgia.
