Scope and Content Note

The series contains audio and video recordings of Ed Bullins interviews, productions of his work, readings, and other appearances from 1965-2004. Audio recordings of his work include an early production of How Do You Do (1965) and a radio show featuring short stories from his collection The Hungered One. Of particular note are interviews that Ed Bullins conducted of fellow writers J.E. (Sonny Jim) Gaines and Richard Wesley in 1972. Video recordings include several productions featuring Bullins as writer, producer, or actor, such as Boy X Man, Evolutionary Voices, Louisa, Miss Marie, and Tripnology. The video recordings also include interviews of Bullins in which he discusses his influences, writing process, African American theater, and arts in general.
