Collection Description

Biographical Note

Delia Ray McIntyre Carter is the curator and director of Dominion Vintage Rentals, a shop in Atlanta, Georgia, that offers long and short term rentals including artifacts, art, photographs, papers and magazines, and textiles.

Scope and Content Note

The collection consists of materials collected by Delia Carter including primarily photographs and scrapbooks documenting African American life, but also including printed materials, school records, and year books. Photographs and photograph albums contain mostly unidentified snapshots of families from the 1940s-1980s and scrapbooks document African American life from 1935-1940s. Also included are printed materials including university bulletins and handbooks, programs, and promotional materials. There are serials from national organizations including Jack and Jill of America and SCLC. Also included are materials regarding James Leon Robinson's 1959 high school graduation and matriculation at Hampton Institute including his diploma, classwork, and correspondence.
