Scope and Content Note

The subseries consists of materials relating to the preparation and publication of articles, collected essays, interviews, speeches, television program scripts, and other non-fiction writings by Cleage from 1972-2011. Typescript drafts of Cleage's articles published in the Atlanta Tribune, Atlanta Journal-Constitution as well as typescripts of her published essays, Mad at Miles: A Blackwoman's Guide to Truth and Deals With the Devil: And Other Reasons to Riot are included. The series also contains interviews by and of Cleage, speeches delivered by her at various events and institutions, and scripts for African American public affairs television programs. Other writings are comprised of typescript forwards, oaths, reflections, reports, and short stories written by Cleage.
