Series 3
Subject files, 1966-2011
Boxes 102-121 and OP1, OP7, OP10, OP12
Scope and Content Note
The series consists of subject files from 1966-2011. Files contain correspondence, printed material, and teaching material about various topics including AIDS, Angela Davis, feminist literature, female artists and writers, and sisterhood. There are also files containing research conducted by Cleage for her works Baby Brother's Blues, Babylon Sisters, A Song for Coretta, Nacirema Society, What Looks Like Crazy On An Ordinary Day, and Some Things I Never Thought I'd Do. The bulk of the material documents Cleage's tenure as Cosby Endowed Chair in the Fine Arts at Spelman College from 2005-2007, her involvement with the National Black Arts Festival, and the Georgia Theatre Network. Of particular note are documents and correspondence from former mayors of Atlanta, Maynard Jackson and Shirley Franklin, and writings and research from her collaboration with Oprah Winfrey.
