Scope and Content Note

Born digital materials in this collection come from twelve 3.5” floppy disks and five optical disks. Files range from 1961-2007.

Files contain text documents and photographs. Text documents include creative works, interviews, notes, and correspondence. Photographs are primarily of a 2007 performance of A Song for Coretta.

Restrictions on Access

Access to processed born digital materials is only available in the Stuart A. Rose Manuscript, Archives, and Rare Book Library (the Rose Library). Use of the original digital media is restricted.

Processing Note

Forensic disk images were created from the floppy disks and optical discs using KryoFlux and GuyMager. Individual files were extracted from forensic images of the 3.5” floppy disks and optical discs using FTK Imager. Files were scanned for viruses using McAfee's anti-virus software; infected files were cleaned upon extraction. Duplicate files have been removed. Files were scanned for personally identifiable information; none were found. 35 text-based files were migrated to PDF using LibreOffice. Access copies have been organized into two series: 1) Writings by Pearl Cleage; and 2) Photographs.

File names have been maintained.
