Scope and Content Note

The subseries consists of research material Coan gathered to write his books, dissertation, and articles from approximately 1930-1986. Coan used this research for multiple and overlapping writing projects. Folders contain predominately research notes, many of which are taken from articles in The Voice of Missions and The Christian Recorder. The content of the notes attests to Coan's interest in missions in Africa, especially South Africa. A smaller amount of material includes clippings and photocopies of articles Coan referred to while conceiving of his writing projects.
