Video recordings,1952-1954, 1984-1989

Scope and Content Note

The video recordings subseries contains 16mm film and VHS recordings featuring or recorded by William Levi Dawson from 1952-1989. The home movies, mostly shot in the 1950s, were recorded by Dawson on black and white and color film and are silent. They feature scenes from Dawson's trips to Africa and Spain, the Tuskegee Institute, an award dinner in 1971, and Dawson's friends and family. Other recordings in this series including Dawson's 90th birthday, the Boston Orchestra performing spirituals arranged by Dawson, and a performance of the Tuskegee Institute Choir performing on Coke Time in 1954.
