Scope and Content Note

The series consists of the written (non-musical) publications, drafts, and speeches of William Levi Dawson. It includes an issue of Etude, in which Dawson published an article in 1955, and a reprint in Australian Musical News in 1959. Manuscript materials in this series include an unsigned draft of a musical curriculum guide for students from elementary to high school possibly authored by Dawson while teaching in Kansas City, Missouri, and two drafts of speeches given by Dawson. The series also includes a report Dawson submitted to the State Department of the United States of America following a trip in 1956 to Spain in which he trained selected Spanish choral groups in the American spiritual tradition.
