Processing

Unprocessed collection.

Born digital materials processed, arranged, and described by Brenna Edwards and Zhexiong Liu, 2019-2020. Born digital materials include files taken from 261 5.25" floppy disks and 94 3.5" floppy disks.

Forensic disk images were created using Kryoflux. Some disks could not be read and were not imaged. Individual files were extracted using FTK Imager and scanned for viruses using McAfee’s anti-virus software; none were found. Duplicate and system files have been removed, and files were scanned for personally identifiable information; none were found. Text-based files were migrated to PDF using Adobe Acrobat and image files were migrated to JPG using Microsoft Paint. File dates have been changed from the original creation date. Access copies retain original folder titles and file names.

Collection Description

Biographical Note

Roy C. DeLamotte (1918-2010), activist, author, educator and minister, was born in LeCompte, Louisiana. He attended Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi where he earned a BA in 1939. He also received a BD from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia and a Ph.D. in world religions from Yale University. In 1949, he married Araminta Harper and the couple had two daughters, Eugenia and Rebecca.

DeLamotte pastored churches in Connecticut and Tennessee before joining Paine College in Augusta, Georgia as a professor of Bible, Ethics and World Religions. He was active with Amnesty International, and promoted social justice and racial equality throughout his life. He wrote two novels under the pseudonym Gregory Wilson, as well as several plays and scholarly works. He was also a frequent contributor of letters to the editor of the Augusta Chronicle.

DeLamotte died in 2010.

Born digital materials include correspondence and writings.
