Scope and Content Note

The James Dickey papers include a large number of audio and video tapes and a small group of disk recordings and movie film. Some of the audio tapes are recordings of public appearances and readings by Dickey; others contain dictated notes for a series of audio "journals" that Dickey worked on in the 1970s. Many of the latter relate specifically to the composition of Alnilam. The video recordings contain interviews and features, readings and tributes featuring Dickey as well as performances of his work. The movie film primarily includes home movies and documentaries featuring Dickey and his work.
