Boxes 17-18
Scope and Content Note
This series contains subject files collected by Owen Dodson from 1929-1995. The materials include printed material, notes, and correspondence and are primarily relating to organizations in which Dodson participated and plays he wrote or directed. Files on specific plays contain programs, other material from performances, and reviews. A number of files relate to Dodson's time at Howard University and his work with the Howard University Players. Organizations Dodson was connected to include the Committee for Mass Education in Race Relations and the Library of Congress. The file on the Committee for Mass Education in Race Relations is particularly interesting for its look into the film industry and the correspondence it contains from Edward G. Robinson, Lillian Smith, and Margaret Sullivan.
