Scope and Content Note

The series contains printed material about and collected by Alan Dugan from 1940-2003. It includes promotional material, newsletters and magazines, published writings, and clippings. The promotional material contains fliers and handbills for events involving Alan Dugan, Judith Shahn, and other artists, along with printed material related to Dugan's 1962 Pulitzer Prize. The newsletters and magazines contain poetry publications, catalogs, annual reports, and other publications, many of which contain poems by or articles about Alan Dugan. Also included are published versions of works by Alan Dugan and other writers. The clippings contain newspaper and magazine articles collected by Alan Dugan, most of which involve his writing career. There are a large number of clippings from the early 1960s documenting Dugan's Pulitzer Prize and his National Book Award for Poems.
