Collection Description
Historical Note
The Emory Grove Neighborhood Association was established in 1984 to provide an organized network for "developing community awareness, concern, and action." The Emory Grove neighborhood is a 90-acre historic district that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000. It resides in the Druid Hills area of Atlanta, Georgia, near Emory University, and includes Westminster Way, Edinburgh Terrace, and that portion of North Decatur Road between the two entrances of Westminster Way. It was developed in 1939 with bungalow-style homes designed by the Ivey and Crook Architects and Robert and Company architecture firms.
Scope and Content Note
The collection consists of the records of Emory Grove Neighborhood Association from 1952-2010. There is an executive binder of an association board member (1984-1997) as well communications such as newsletters and flyers (1996-2010). Also, there are the records of the "Weeders and Seeders" garden club from 1952-1969 including annual booklets (1964-1969) and a spiral bound minute book from 1952-1955.
