Subseries 1.5
Photographs, circa 1945
Boxes 16-22, 48

Scope and Content

Subseries consists of photographs donated by liberators, survivors, and others. Photographs cheifly depict conditions in concentration camps in Germany, Austria, and Poland, particularly prisoners, casualties, mass grave sites, and facilities. Some are original prints and others are copies of photographs still held privately. The Witness to the Holocaust project staff numbered the photographs as they were received. Negatives for the photographs are in Subseries 1.5: Photographic negatives. Slides were made of some of the images and can be found in Subseries 1.6: Slides.

Arrangement Note

Arranged alphabetically by concentration camp, except Buchenwald and Dachau which are housed seperately due to the volume of photographs. Later additions to this subseries (Box 48), processed in September 2013, are also grouped alphabetically by concentration camp name.
