Administrative History

Emory College was founded in 1836 in Oxford, Ga. and later expanded and moved to Atlanta, Ga. in 1915. The University has observed both dates as anniversaries with various events and celebrations.

Scope and Content Note

The collection contains materials relating to the centennial (100th), 125th, sesquicentennial (150th), and 175th anniversary observances for Emory College and the 25th and 50th anniversary observances for Emory University. Audiovisual materials in the collection pertain to the sesquicentennial observance activities and a related oral history project produced for the occasion.

Organized into five series: (1) Centennial anniversary observances, (2) 25th, 50th, and 125th anniversary observances, (3) Sesquicentennial anniversary observances,(4) 175th anniversary observances, and (5) Founders Week.
