Collection Description

Administrative History

The Presidential Search Committee is charged with selecting and interviewing candidates for the position of President of Emory University. While considered a special committee of the Board of Trustees, the records were compiled by the Presidential Search Committee's chief administrator, the University Secretary.

In 1993, then Emory University President James T. Laney was nominated as Ambassador to South Korea, subsequently resigning from his position at Emory. In 1994, the President Search Committee chose William M. Chace as Emory's 18th President.
