Collection Description

Administrative History

Student poilitical organizations at Emory University were formally established as chapters of national organizations in the 1960s and included Young Republicans, Young Democrats, and Young Americans for Freedom. Later, chapters of Amnesty International and College Republicans also established themselves at Emory.

Scope and Content Note

This collection consists of constitutions and by-laws, correspondence, membership lists, and ephemera including event flyers, newsletters, circular letters, and campaign materials. A majority of materials pertain to the College Republicans from 1994-1997. A video recording of Speaker of the House of Representatives Newt Gingrich's visit to campus following an invitation from the College Republicans is included. Founding documents are included for Young Americans for Freedom, Young Democrats, and Young Republicans.
