Collection Description

Administrative History

Since its founding, Emory University, and its predecessor institution, Emory College, has served as a venue for a number of special events. While many of these events, such as lectures and conferences, have been academic in nature, others, such as student competitions and memorial services, have served as occasions to celebrate and observe aspects of the institution and its community. Through the twentieth century, events at Emory reflected both local and national or international interests.

Scope and Content Note

Collection includes materials related to various annual and one-time events held at or hosted by Emory University. Records include event calendars, announcements, agendas, certificates of recognition, memoranda, speech and lecture transcripts, and some correspondence. The events documented range from student activities, such as the annual Pushball game of the 1950s, to memorial services and conferences, such as the meetings of the Southeastern Association of Deans of Men. Other represented events mark retirements or achievements of individuals within the Emory community.

Arrangement Note

Orgnanized alphabetically by subject.

Finding Aid Note

Originally kept as subject files in Series 1000.
