Collection Description

Administrative History

Emory University's Graduate School of Arts and Sciences was renamed the Laney Graduate School in 2009 to honor former Emory President James T. Laney. Laney was the 17th president of the University, serving from 1977 to 1993. The Graduate School was established in 1919 when the main campus of Emory College moved to its current Druid Hills location and Emory University was founded. The Laney Graduate School awards master's and doctoral-level degrees in over forty areas of study.
