Collection Description

Administrative History

The Office of University-Community Partnerships (OUCP) was founded in 2000 to integrate Emory’s teaching, scholarship, and service missions with community partners in order to serve the greater Atlanta community. Professor Michael Rich was the founding director and OUCP was housed in the Center for Ethics. In 2002, OUCP was moved into Emory College, reporting to the Dean until the 2008 when it was restructured under the Office of the Provost, reporting to the Vice Provost for Community and Diversity. In 2009, Professor Vialla Hartfield-Mendez was named Director of Engaged Learning charged with connecting academic coursework with community-based service. OUCP moved from its location on Emory’s Briarcliff property to an office building in downtown Decatur in 2011 and in the fall of 2012 was renamed the Center for Community Partnerships (CFCP). CFCP began reporting to the Vice Provost of Academic Affairs in 2013 and closed in 2014.
