Series 5
Photographs, circa
1910-2003
Boxes 32-34, OP12
Scope and Content Note
Included in this series are all of the photographs that are part of the collection. The photographs come from numerous sources, including Fabre's research, letters he received from writers and personal friends, conferences, and other libraries. Primarily, the photographs found in the Fabre archive are portraits or candid pictures of the authors represented in the collection's " Author/Artist files " series. An additional strength of the series is a group of photographs reprinted from the collection of the Library of Congress. The photographs were originally taken by various photographers working for the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Farm Security Administration; the images depict the lives of African-Americans during the Great Depression and were used by Richard Wright for his book 12 Million Black Voices, originally published in 1941.
Arrangement Note
Arranged in alphabetical order by subject of photograph.
