Biographical Note

Robert Gregory, the eldest son of William H. Gregory (1762-1840), was born 6 October 1790 at Coole Park in County Galway. In 1815 he married Elizabeth (1799-1875), the daughter of Robert O'Hara of Raheen in County Galway. They had one son, William Henry Gregory (1817-1892). Robert Gregory died in April 1849.

Scope and Content Note

The papers of Robert and Elizabeth Gregory relate to their financial affairs from 1833-1875. Included is Elizabeth Gregory's will, documents relating to O'Hara family securities, and an indenture relating to Robert and Elizabeth Gregory and their son, William. Also present is a letter from the Archbishop of Canterbury to Robert Gregory congratulating him on W.H. Gregory's success at school and an inventory of furniture shipped to Mrs. Gregory in 1841.

W.H. Gregory's letters to Elizabeth Gregory can be found in the W.H. Gregory papers [Series 4 of the Gregory family papers]. Some financial papers concerning the estate of Robert Gregory are also contained in the W.H. Gregory papers.
