Collection Description

Biographical Note

Richard Clinton Gresham, Baptist clergyman and educator, of Moultrie, Georgia, died in Atlanta, Georgia, 1972. He attended Georgia Military Academy in College Park, Georgia (1905-1907), and received his MA from the University of Kentucky (1932). Gresham was on the governing board of Georgia Military Academy (1932-1972; became Woodward Academy 1966), was Chaplain and Professor of Religious Education at Berry College in Rome, Georgia (1950-1959), and was a lifelong friend of Robert W. Woodruff.

Scope and Content Note

The collection consists of the papers of Richard Clinton Gresham from 1917 to 1967. Records include scrapbooks, printed materials, correspondence, a diploma, and certificates. Materials relate to Gresham's personal life and ministerial career, to Robert W. Woodruff, or to the Coca-Cola Company; one scrapbook documents Gresham's activity with the Boy Scouts in the 1920s; certificates are from the U.S. Army and the diploma is from the University of Kentucky.
