Scope and Content Note

The series consists of printed material created by or about Hanley's Bell Street Funeral Home, and printed material created by other organizations and collected by Hanley's. Printed material by or about Hanley's Bell Street Funeral Home includes advertisements placed by the funeral home in the programs of community events, newspaper articles relating to the business, calendars printed by the funeral home, and memorials placed in honor of Jesse Hanley. A ticket for a special service at Denson's Temple Church that featured a film of Jesse Hanley's burial is also included.

Other printed material primarily relates to Atlanta African American churches, local community events, and professional organizations. It includes programs, newsletters, financial reports, and calendars from such churches as Ebenezer Baptist Church, Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, and Big Bethel African Methodist Episcopal (A.M.E.) Church. It also includes flyers, tickets, and programs for community events relating to the Auburn Avenue neighborhood, and materials created by the Georgia Funeral Service Practitioners Association and the National Funeral Directors and Morticians Association.
