Collection Description

Biographical Note

Grace Hightower (1918- ), was born in Brundidge, Alabama. She worked as a librarian and served on the Georgia Department of Education’s school library unit from 1948-1976.

Scope and Content Note

The collection consists of the papers of Grace Hightower from 1936-1976. The papers include personal letters, correspondence relating to her published works, and letters relating to her work with the Georgia Department of Education, the Georgia Library Association, and the Southeastern Library Association. The papers also include speeches, notes and drafts of her published work on school library service, a notebook of collected materials regarding various authors, and miscellaneous articles, pamphlets, reports, pictures, and awards.
