Scope and Content Note
The collection contains over 3000 photographs related to theater, music, film, and dance, particularly from 1930s and 1940s Harlem. The full range of photographs in the collection date from the early 1900s to the early 2000s, and represent numerous subjects. There are formal, professional photographs of entertainers and theatrical productions as well as candid, informal snapshots of individuals and events that have been collected from others.

Organized by individuals first, then by films and performances, many of which are cross-referenced.
