Biographical Note

Frederick Thomas Jane (1865-1916) established the publication Jane’s Fighting Ships and was a naval correspondent for several British newspapers.

Scope and Content Note

The collection consists of scrapbooks of Frederick Thomas Jane from 1905-1948. The scrapbooks include clippings of newspaper articles written by Jane as well as general clippings regarding British naval affairs from 1905-1916. The collection also contains articles by naval correspondent, Francis E. McMurtrie, from 1927-1948. McMurtrie became editor of Jane’s Fighting Ships in 1923.
