Biographical Note

Francis Marion Jones, physician, was born in 1858 in Gilmer County, Georgia. He was an 1877 graduate of the Atlanta Medical College (subsequently the Atlanta College of Physicians and Surgeons and later the Emory University School of Medicine), and married Cleopatra Bates.

Scope and Content Note

The collection consists of the papers of Francis Marion Jones from 1885-1887. The papers include twenty letters, one essay, and seven envelopes. Letters (1885-1887) were exchanged with Cleopatra Bates, F.M. Jones, and others during the time in which Jones was a medical student. The essay was written by Jones as a part of his medical studies during the academic year 1886-1887.
