Collection Description
Biographical Note
Sarah Evelyn Lewis, African American physician, graduated from Howard University Medical School in 1927. While at Howard, she was president of the Zeta Phi Beta sorority and a member of Kappa Pi honorary medical society. She was a member of the Howard Players and involved in musical activities. She participated in many civic and professional activities as a doctor, apparently in the Washington, D.C. area.
Scope and Content Note
The collection consists of the papers of Dr. Sarah Evelyn Lewis from 1901-1938. The small collection papers include a variety of material pertaining to Dr. Lewis, Howard University, and the Lewis family. The Howard University material includes printed materials such as event programs, invitations, and dance cards. Also in the collection are some church programs and other miscellaneous printed material.
