Scope and Content Note

The series consists primarily of audiocassette recordings of Nathaniel Mackey's work at the radio station KUSP in Santa Cruz, California, from 1982-2001. The recordings primarily contain his weekly radio show, Tanganyika Strut, which showcased jazz and world music from 1990-2001. Also included are interviews created for KUSP entitled "Afro-American Literature Currents and Cross Currents" as well as music from Mackey's own collection.
