Scope and Content Note
The subseries consists of drafts of Matthew's golf writings, one of which is under the pseudonym Angus "Wee Nip" McJigger. The majority of these writings are directly about Bobby Jones, but there are a few concerning contemporary golfers such as Tiger Woods and the broader history of golf including the history of golf club development. Of particular interest are the files relating to The Life and Times of Bobby Jones, Bobby Jones Extra!, and Secrets of the Master: Best of Bobby Jones, which include many drafts and revisions as well as documentation concerning the publishing and advertising processes. Matthew also used earlier writings by Bobby Jones, O.B. Keeler, and Grantland Rice in the composition of his own works; as these documents contain Matthew's notes and directly relate to his own writings, they are retained here rather than in Subseries 3.4: Research Files.
