Scope and Content Note

The series consists of born digital materials including floppy disks, optical disks, a flash drive, and datasets from circa 1973-2010. Floppy disks, optical discs, and flash drive contain photographs, speeches, correspondence, schedules, floor votes, oral history transcripts, and inventories of office files.

Constituent correspondence data has been uploaded into Dataverse. The Sam Nunn Constituent Correspondence Dataverse consists of coded data from constituent issue mail and casework correspondence received by Nunn’s office from 1978-1996. These datasets are available to researchers upon request.

Unprocessed series.

Appraisal Note

Archivists discarded ~350 magnetic data tapes (3 linear ft.) containing outgoing constituent correspondence. The content of unformatted disks and virus-infected disks was not captured.

Restrictions on Access

Special restrictions apply: Researchers must contact the Rose Library in advance for access to unprocessed born digital materials in this collection. Collection restrictions, copyright limitations, or technical complications may hinder the Rose Library's ability to provide access to unprocessed born digital materials. Use of the original digital media is restricted.

Processing Note

Forensic disk images were created from the floppy disks using Kryoflux and from the flash drive and optical discs using Guymager. The disk images were virus scanned using ClamAV and McAfee. Additional information about the constituent correspondence datasets can be found in the files associated with those Dataverse datasets.
