Scope and Content Note

The series consists of constituent services files from 1873-1996 (bulk 1973-1996). The constituent services staff in Nunn's Washington, D.C. and Atlanta offices responded to constituent mail and inquiries. Constituent project files document issues that affected a community, business, or institution. Correspondence management files document the correspondence management unit and include mail reports, staff files, and constituent correspondence item libraries and data. The series also contains constituent correspondence received by Nunn's office from 1973-1996, as well as outgoing responses sent by the office. The vast majority of this correspondence is constituent letters about legislative issues (issue mail).

Organized into 3 subseries: (7.1) Constituent project files, (7.2) Correspondence management files, and (7.3) Constituent correspondence.

Appraisal Note

Rose Library staff removed and shredded 908 linear feet of constituent casework files (in 1997 and 2018) that contained personally identifiable information and were maintained by Nunn's office as a separate series of records. See each subseries for more detailed information about appraisal decisions.

Restrictions on Access

Special restrictions apply: All paper and microfilm files in the series are restricted by the donor. File on Keith Waldmann containing personally identifiable information is restricted for 75 years until 2070. Preservation copies of microfilm are restricted.
