Scope and Content Note

Subseries 3.2 consists of Shelton Oliver's legal records which consists of land deeds and indentures, correspondence pertaining to legal matters, including correspondence to General Tilson of the Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen, and Abandoned Lands regarding the status and care of Shelton Oliver's former slaves, and a pardon from President Andrew Johnson for Shelton Oliver's participation in the Civil War. Also included are the legal records relating to Shelton Oliver's role as Administrator to the Leroy Upshaw and Richard Winfrey Estates.
