Hall of our history project papers, 1949-1964
Boxes 156-162; OP 4

Scope and Content Note

The Hall of Our History was a project organized in 1953 to build a stone monument in Georgia that would illustrate scenes from American history in sculpture. Failing to raise the necessary funds, the Trustees dissolved the corporation in 1954, only to have the idea revived in 1957 by the National Freedom Shrine Foundation, based in Washington, D.C. Although the monument was never built, Palmer actively promoted its construction during the 1950s and the 1960s.
