Collection Description

Biographical Note

Common Good Atlanta (CGA) was founded in 2008 by Georgia State University graduate students, Bill Taft and Sarah Higinbotham. Originally called the Georgia State Prison Initiative, CGA registered as a non-profit in 2014. The organization developed a program to teach college courses at Phillips State Prison in Buford, Georgia, focusing on arts and science. Through this program, the inmates at Phillips State Prison create original artists' books which have been exhibited at Eyedrum Gallery as well as other Atlanta universities and national conferences.

Scope and Content Note

The collection consists of the art and artist books created by participants in the Phillips State Prison Book Project as directed by members of Common Good Atlanta. Materials include framed art as well as artist books.
