Forensic disk images were created from the optical discs using GuyMager. Individual files were extracted using FTK Imager and scanned for viruses using McAfee’s anti-virus software; none were found. Duplicate and system files have been removed, and files were scanned for personally identifiable information; none were found. Text-based files were migrated to PDF using Adobe Acrobat and image files were migrated to JPG using Microsoft Paint. Access copies retain original folder titles and file names.

Collection Description
Historical Note
Professional Women Photographers (PWP) is a professional organization dedicated to the advancement of women photographers through exhibitions, networking, and workshops. The organization was founded in New York City in 1975 following the exhibition Breadth of Vision: Portfolios of Women Photographers at the Fashion Institute of Technology. The artists who participated in the exhibit founded PWP to provide each other mutual support and encouragement for their projects. The group has published newsletters and a magazine, PWP Times and offers a monthly lecture series. Their annual Community Outreach Program provides photographer services free of charge to a selected non-profit organization.
Scope and Content Note
The collection consists of the records of Professional Women Photographers from circa 1975-2016 and includes administrative records, event and exhibit files, photographs, printed material, and scrapbooks. Administrative records contain correspondence, financial records, meeting minutes, member resumes, and other documents relating to the business of the organization. A significant portion of correspondence in the collection was received by PWP following a profile in Vogue. The letters came from women photographers across the United States asking the organization to put them in contact with other women photographers in their area. There are also binders of administrative records, event and exhibit files, and printed material; these were assembled by members of PWP and some are labeled "historical documents." Event and exhibit files primarily contain promotional material for the events, though some also include planning documents. Photographs are mostly of events hosted or sponsored by PWP. Printed material is comprised of promotional material for the organization and publications including their newsletter and PWP Times. Scrapbooks contain historical documents, as designated by PWP members, and publications. Born digital materials primarily consists of event photographs and newsletter material.
