Collection Description

Biographical Note

William Fletcher Quillian, clergyman, educator, and college president, was born December 21, 1880, in Lithonia, Georgia, and died October 26, 1960, in Atlanta, Georgia. He graduated from Emory University (1901), and was president of Warthan College in Wrightsville, Georgia (1902-1907), and of Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia (1920-1931; 1950-1952). Quillian held various offices with the Methodist Church before and after unification (1931-1952).

Scope and Content Note

The collection consists of the papers of William Fletcher Quillian from 1900-1960. The papers include notebooks, correspondence, clippings, photographs, and biographical information. Notebooks contain sermons, essays on education, and addresses and speeches concerning religion; correspondence is in reference to Wesleyan College and the Emory University Alumni Association; photographs, clippings and biographical information pertain to W.F. Quillian.
