Scope and Content Note

This subseries consists of general printed material, including magazine and newspaper clippings either sent to or cut by Rushdie. Magazine clippings range from 1983 to 2003 and newspaper clippings date from 1980 through 2005. Rushdie's clippings demonstrate his interests in international relations, particularly developments in India and Pakistan, freedom of speech campaigns, the biographies and obituaries of other writers, and Anglo-American popular culture. The subseries also includes other general printed material, including programs from theatre productions, posters, art shows, symphony and opera performances, and sporting events.
