Scope and Content Note
The series consists of materials documenting the programs and events held by SCLC/W.O.M.E.N. from 1980-1997. Files contain correspondence, drafts of brochures and fliers, speeches, biographical information, memoranda, and meeting minutes relating to the planning and execution of each event. Programs documented in the series include the annual Drum Major for Justice Awards Dinner, Drum Major for Justice Golf Classic, Civil Rights Heritage Tour, Family Life Learning Center, and national oratorical contest. There are also records relating to SCLC/W.O.M.E.N.'s local and international political involvement, including their support for Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney and their participation in the struggle against apartheid in South Africa.
