Subseries 2.2
Other program records, 1980-1997
Boxes 17 - 24

Scope and Content Note

The subseries consists of the records and planning files for other programs and events offered by SCLC/W.O.M.E.N., including the Family Life Learning Center, Civil Rights Heritage Tour, national oratorical competition, and the Strengthening the Black Family Conference. Files include correspondence, memoranda, meeting minutes, drafts of brochures and promotional material, financial records and grant applications. The records in this subseries document SCLC/W.O.M.E.N.'s local and international political involvement, including their support for Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney and their participation in the struggle against apartheid in South Africa. The records also document the organization's various job training programs, youth outreach activities, and community events. The Civil Rights Heritage Tour had a variety of names over the years, and for ease of use is here referred to only as the Civil Rights Heritage Tour. Changes to programs, and/or their relationships to other programs have been parenthetically noted with "[See also…]".
