Scope and Content Note

This subsection contains records related to Opportunities Industrialization Centers America (OICA) from 1964-1999. The records include administrative files, correspondence, location files, printed material, and subject files. Administrative files include annual reports, budgetary information, and expansion plans. Convocations and events files contain printed material and planning documents for OIC national events. Correspondence files contain general OIC correspondence and includes letters from Elizabeth Dole, Edward Kennedy, Henry Kissinger, Strom Thurmond, and various foreign heads of state. Correspondence relevant to particular OIC locations or events is filed across the series. Location files contain reports, correspondence, plans, and printed material relevant to local OIC branches.

This subseries also includes correspondence, reports, and other subject files related to the Opportunities Service Center (OSC), an organization that worked in tandem with OIC, primarily addressing housing projects across the country.

Other material in this series includes newspaper and magazine clippings; and pamphlets, newsletters, reports and brochures published by OICA. Subject files document sub-organizations that fell under the umbrella of OICA including the National Industrial Advisory Council (NIAC), Opportunities Academy Management Training (OAMT), and the Human Development Center, among others.
