Scope and Content Note
The series consists of writings by Trethewey from 1995-2012 and includes project proposals, drafts, manuscripts, and proofs of Trethewey's published works, Bellocq's Ophelia, Beyond Katrina, Domestic Work, Native Guard, and Thrall. Also included are poems considered for these works, but not published in the final collections. The series contains Trethewey's MFA thesis, "Dyed in the Blue," and poems published in literary magazines such as Callaloo and Waccamaw. Other writings in this series are unpublished poems, speeches from conferences, convocations, and commencements, and essays from Trethewey's time as an MFA student at the University of Massachusetts.
